So, I'm back.

These past few years have been a blur. Where have I been? What have I been doing?
Well, nothing TOO special, but graphically, I've made a few posters for friends and family. I've spent a few good months to finish this movie poster for filmmaker, George Lin. His short film, Magic, required a sort of noir/club glamor aspect. I did enjoy this one as well as the previous poster I designed for his other film, The Parasomniac

As for family, my cousin had commissioned me to create two posters for her daughter's 1st birthday party.

I've been practicing Chung do kwan Taekwondo for about 7 years now. I just earned my 1st degree black belt. I fell in love with this group and its practices and I've taken to photograph practices as much as I can. Sparring below is Howard, a 6th Dan, with a perfect sidekick.

I would like to post bi monthly, of fellow artists, events and my own work. Getting back to this is quite therapeutic--I will need this on my way to beginning acupuncture school. :)

Until next post,

I.

2011

So it's about to be the new year, and I think I should add more to this blog. So each week I want to explore my neighborhood, my city, and other place for things, designs, art, music, artists that I have interacted with and so on.

So for the first post of the year, tonight I will take some pictures and try to get some things in for viewers to enjoy. Above is an album cover I made for myself (if I ever get a record deal). Below is another album cover design I created, photography was taken my me as well.

If you would like an album cover, I'd be happy to make one for you for a small fee :)

Stay tuned. :)

Luis Monje

This is the work of a very good friend, Luis.

He is having his open studio this Saturday.

It would be great for people to come see.

Just a thought... I never feel like I can ever really title anything. It's difficult to come up with a name that just feels right. I guess because it's more than a name, you have to let others experience the work before you can really call it something.

I've never been comfortable with the titles of my work. I think I've only named them for the sake of passing my thesis grade. Those pieces don't deserve a title to me, they are what they are--memories and emotions. It's not just "Junie" in that collage, it's me, it's our family... it's a chunk of the world. It needs no title.

Happy Birthday

Bennett's Collage

So I finished creating another collage for my cousin's boyfriend, Bennett. I'd show it to you here, but I think seeing it on the site is better...

What graphic design schools are lacking | David Airey, graphic designer

What graphic design schools are lacking | David Airey, graphic designer

this is what I feel was missing out of my college experience. The lack of "Real World" skills and experience that teachers and students should really take care of in the field of Graphic Design.
